Dan Hilback - Owner and Coach

My name is Dan Hilback, and I am the owner and sole coach at Hilback Endurance Coaching LLC. For my adult life, I have been an active participant in endurance sport since 2015 when I ran my first marathon and my first ultramarathon. Prior to that, I have a long history as a swimmer and with recreational weightlifting. Over the years I have assisted many friends and family members with their fitness undertakings (running races, personal objectives, etc.). I knew that my passion would likely lead to something more, eventually, and finally in 2024 I decided to jump in and launch my coaching practice!

I am a certified Ultrarunning Coach through UESCA, and in addition to that I have spent much of the past 10 years studying and practicing the art of coaching with my own training and supporting those close to me. I am excited to take on clients, build relationships, and help others reach their potential!

More personally, I am a man of God intentionally working to follow His will for my life. I am also a husband (my wife Susie is my biggest supporter), father of three wonderful children (the greatest fan club I could ask for), and Mechanical Engineer working in Automation. Endurance training (and the requisite time it requires) has taught me that efficiency is key, and training smart is the only way to keep everything in balance.

As an engineer, I love data, and I have seen how good planning coupled with the data leads to efficient training and makes many things possible within the context of busy life. I believe it is a misconception that endurance training has to come entirely at the cost of other hobbies/responsibilities. Yes, there are times and seasons leading up to big goals that require sacrifice, but I don't believe that should be a roadblock, rather it is yet another challenge to overcome which will act as a buttress against failure.

I believe in the value of human connections, and I have seen firsthand the benefit of interpersonal relationship with regard to overcoming adversity. That can be a friend or a significant-other during hard times in life, or a coach in the context of voluntarily doing hard things. I look forward to building strong relationships with clients and my priority is the health, well-being, and success of everyone I work with.

Please don't hesitate to reach out to me with any questions, or just to get to know me better and see if we are a good fit. Thanks for stopping by!
